It was just last week when I testified in front of the New Orleans City Council about how damaging metal balloons are to our energy grid. (Read more about comments here.) Then, a single balloon takes out our water system. California recently passed a total ban on mylar balloons to go into full effect by 2031. But, several California cities took the protective step before the state got into the mix. New Orleans should do the same. It could start like this:

City Ordinance defines Mylar Balloons as metallic balloons made of electrically conductive materials filled with helium or gas which is lighter than air. The selling of Mylar Balloons, whether or not inflated with helium or gas, is prohibited in New Orleans.
